Meet Caroline
I've always believed a home should do more than look beautiful.

It should welcome you at the end of a long day. It should make busy mornings feel easier, encourage you to slow down, bring people together and create a sense of calm that stays with you long after the decorating is finished.

That's the thinking behind Design for Living.
After studying interior design, I founded Ex-pressions with my husband, Owen, to help homeowners create spaces that feel as good as they look. Together, we combine thoughtful design with practical renovation expertise, taking projects from the first ideas through to completion.

Before I think about colours, furniture or finishes, I want to understand how you live. How does your family move through the house? Where do you naturally gather? Which parts of your home frustrate you? What would make everyday life easier, calmer or more enjoyable?
Those conversations shape every decision that follows.

My background in wellbeing taught me that our surroundings have a profound effect on how we feel, often in ways we don't consciously notice. Interior design gave me the tools to create spaces that support that feeling through light, layout, proportion, materials and thoughtful detail.

Whether I'm redesigning a single room or helping transform an entire home, my aim is always the same: to create homes that feel calm, considered and completely personal to the people who live there.

Meet Owen
​There's something incredibly rewarding about taking an idea from paper and turning it into a thoughtfully crafted space that will be enjoyed for years to come.
​
At Ex-pressions, I work alongside Caroline to bring each design to life. While she develops the creative vision, I oversee the practical side of the renovation, working closely with trusted trades, solving challenges on site and making sure every detail is delivered with the same level of care that went into the original design.
​
More than a decade of hands-on renovation experience, combined with my background in business, has taught me that successful projects rely on more than good craftsmanship. They rely on trust, clear communication and taking pride in doing things properly.
​
Whether it's bespoke joinery, a full renovation or the countless decisions that happen behind the scenes, my role is to ensure every project is carried through with precision, honesty and attention to detail.

For us, the best projects aren't simply well built. They're the ones that quietly make everyday life that little bit better.
